Dallas Cowboys: NFL's Al Bundy

Remember that dynasty in 1990s when the Cowboys won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years. Remember when they had hall of famer in Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin on offense and Deion Sanders on defense. You are probably tired of hearing about it as I am as the media and the team doesn't seem to shut up about. When you have had failure in the last 22 years you tend to live in the past. Here are examples of their failures since 1995.

          1996 Season

The Cowboys have off-season incidents in the off-season which resulted in a 5-game suspension for Michael Irvin and a suspension of Leon Lett. They also had an injury to Emmitt Smith, but you overcome that to win the division. You win your 1st of any playoff games as you crushed the Vikings 40-15 in the Wild Card game. You guys should win your next game as you play the 2nd year expansion team in the Panthers. Wait, you guys lose to a 2nd year expansion team. Well, no biggie it's just a blimp on the radar screen you guys will bounce back.

           1997 season

You guys don't even make the playoffs that year as you finished 6-10. You have a 5-game losing streak to end the season when you lose by an average of 14.2 ppg. Looks like Barry Switzer can't coach after all. Don't worry this become a common them for the Cowboys as we go on.

           1998 season

You make the playoffs again under new head coach Chan Gailey. Emmitt Smith has another pro bowl caliber year. Yeah, Troy Aikman missed 5 games that year, but Emmitt Smith had a pro bowl caliber year and you guys are NFC East Champs again. All you have to do is beat the Arizona Cardinals who haven't won a playoff game since 1947 and you lose to the Arizona Cardinals who haven't won a playoff game since 1947 which were 7.5-point underdogs. At least you drafted that Randy Moss guy, oh wait, you passed on him.

           1999 season

You lost Michael Irvin 4 games into the season due to a career-ending injury, but still overcome that to make the playoffs. Granted the NFC was weak that year to make with an 8-8 record, but you made the playoffs. Then you get crushed in the Wild Card round by the Vikings. That Randy Moss guy you pass on had 5 catches for 127 yards and a touchdown. Who knew that you could had used him. All though you lost in the Wild Card round you got a bright future with Chan Gailey as head coach going forward. "Cowboys fire Coach Head Gailey" You fired Chan Gailey after leading you to the playoffs. Well at least you will hired a great head coach. "Cowboys hire Dave Campo as Head Coach" You hired Dave Campo as the head coach when you could had hired Bill Belichick. Keep that in mind later.

          2000 season

You lose Michael Irvin due to retirement and traded for Joey Galloway. It only cost you 2 1st-Round Picks which turned in Shaun Alexander and Andre Carter nothing special. After all you have Troy Aikman still at Quarter-Back and you lose him to an career-ending concussion in Week 15 against the Redskins, but at least you still have Joey Galloway, wait you lost him to an season-ending injury in Week 1. Just forget about the 5-11 season and move on no big deal.

          2001 draft

You got the No.7 pick and you can trade up in the draft to select Michael Vick, oh wait I forgot you traded that pick for Joey Galloway. Yeah, you guys didn't even plan for the future without Troy Aikman. Get used to this theme Cowboys fans.

           2003 season

The Dave Campo era comes to an end with 3 5-11 season and you hire Bill Parcells. Bill Parcells is a great head coach and he'll turn your franchise around. You get back to the playoffs with a 10-6 despite having Quincy Carter as your Quarter-Back. Bill Parcells does his best coaching job. You guys are on your way and you get crushed in the Wild Card round by the Panthers. Guess you need more than a great head coach.

          2004 off-season and draft

You actually made a good move. You trade your 1st-Round Pick to the Bills for 2nd, 5th and 2005 1st-Round Picks. You avoid taking bust J.P Losman and used those picks to build a team. You get a replacement for Emmitt Smith in Julius Jones with that Bills 2nd-Round Pick. You signed veteran Vinny Testaverade who is an upgrade over Quincy Carter and traded for Terry Glenn. You released that bum Joey Galloway who had 151 catches for 2,341 yards and 12 touchdowns in 4 season. You guys are ready to make a playoff run.

          2004 season

You guys missed the playoffs with a 6-10 record. It turns out that Vinny Testaverade was not an upgrade over Quincy Carter has he throws more interceptions than touchdowns. You guys should had done your homework on why the Jets released him. Don't worry though your future is bright.

          2005 off-season and draft

You upgraded at Quarter-Back again in Drew Bledsoe and you also signed KeShawn Johnson. You used the Bills 1st-Round pick and draft a stud pass rusher in DeMarcus Ware and then find steals in Marion Babrer in  the 4th-Round and Jay Ratliff in the 7th-Round. You guys are setting up for a long-term Super Bowl run.

           2005 season

You guys missed the playoffs yet again. Drew Bledsoe has a decent year throwing for 3,639 yards with 23 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Your defense was good enough to make the playoffs, but not the offense. The offense needs help and the off-season and draft will help that. Bill Parcells is build something great.

           2006 off-season and draft

You upgrade your wide-receiving core by adding Terrell Owens and you signed Mike Vanderjagt to help your kicking woes. You need offensive help in Davin Joseph and he'll be there with the No.18 pick and you take Bobby Carpenter. You guys realize your good on defense right! Hope Bobby Carpenter works out for you. Peter King liked you guys so much that he picked you to win Super Bowl XLI.

           2006 season

Your 3-3 and you are going to undrafted free agent Tony Romo. I know Drew Bledsoe ain't what he once was, but he at least deserve to finish the season. Looks like your planning for 2007. I was wrong you go 5-1 with Tony Romo as the starter and you score an average of 27.1 ppg. He throws for 1,653 yards with 10 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. Tony Romo proved that he should had started the season as the Quarter-Back. You make the playoffs again after missing it for 2 straight seasons and you have the Seahawks on the ropes in the playoffs. All you need to do is kick a field goal and you win and Tony Romo fumbles the snap resulting in the playoff loss. You got the makings of winning a Super Bowl next year. Don't screw it up and Bill Parcells retired.

          2007 season

After you released Mike Vanderjagt and Shawn Suisham, you drafted Nick Folk. Nick Folk is sure to be an upgrade over both. Tony Romo makes a big leap in 2007 throwing for 4,211 yards with 36 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. He got selected to the pro bowl as the Cowboys go 13-3 and win the NFC East. They have 13 pro bowlers on their team and can make a Super Bowl run. Unfortunately, your star Quarter-Back vacations in Mexico a week before the playoff game and throws a game-ending pick against the Giants at home. A learning experience to say the least, but you should make a bigger leap next year.

         2008 off-season and draft

You passed on Jordy Nelson and draft Fleix Jones in the draft even thought you already had Marion Barber on the team. You released undrafted free agent signing Danny Amendola because after all you don't need Jordy Nelson and Danny Amendola when you have Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn. You released Terry Glenn and put all your eggs in the Terrell Owens basket.

          2008 season

You guys started the season 9-5 and look like a Super Bowl contender. You averaged 23.7 ppg while your defense looked good allowing 20.5 ppg. Tony Romo picked up where he left off of 2007 throwing for 3,013 yards for 24 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions. You even picked up Roy Williams to add to your wide-receiving core. Sure you gave up a 1st-Round pick, but it won't be a good 1st-Round pick. Okay, you lost your final home game at Texas Stadium against the Ravens and getting embarrassed in the process, but you guys can pull it together. The next week you go full Cowboys and don't show up against the Eagles in a winner take all game in Week 17. The Eagles take away your man-hood as they spanked you 44-6. That bum Joey Galloway actually had a good career with the Buccaneers. He had 248 catches for 3,912 yards and 28 touchdowns in 5 seasons with the Buccaneers. Turns out he was a good wide-receiver and the Cowboys have a bad culture.

         2009 off-season and draft

Remember that 1st-Round pick you gave up for Roy Williams that turn into Brandon Pettigrew who had a good career with the Lions before it was cut short due to injury. You traded your 2nd-Round Pick to the Bills for 3rd and 4th-Round Picks. The Bills used that pick to select Andy Levitre and you used the Bills picks to select Robert Brewster and Victor Butler. Knowing how poorly run the Bills are at this point you got the better of the deal.

         2009 season

Tony Romo has another great season has he throws for 4,483 yards with 26 touchdowns and just 9 interceptions. Miles Austin becomes the No.1 Wide-Receiver as he catches 81 passes for 1,320 yards with 11 touchdowns. Your defense is dominant allowing just 15.6 ppg as you bounce back nicely from the collapse of 2008. You even brought back Shaun Suisham after you released struggling Nick Folk. You came to your senses and won the NFC East. You actually did it you won a playoff game for the 1st time since 1996. You dominate the Eagles 34-14 in the Wild Card game. Only a brick wall can stop you and that brick wall was the Vikings as they crushed you 34-3 in the Divisional round. At least Randy Moss didn't torch you this time.

           2010 Off-season and draft

You released Shaun Suisham and now have no kicker. Shaun Suisham goes on to be an successful kicker with the Steelers. You trade up in the draft for Dez Bryant with the Patriots who selected Devin McCourty with your pick. It made no sense since you already had Miles Austin as your No.1.

            2010 season

Tony Romo get hurt 6 games in and you get off to a 1-7 start which resulted in the firing of Wade Phillips. You lose 8 close games that year, maybe having Shaun Suisham would had made a difference. You did hire Jason Garrett after he went 5-4 in 9 games as head coach because he is a hot coaching candidate that year that teams like the Falcons and Dolphins wanted. Chalk that up as a lost season. You'll bounce back next year and then you released that Robert Brewster stinks and release him. Remember that Jordy Nelson guy they passed up on 2 years earlier he becomes a pro bowler and a Super Bowl Champion. The Cowboys also release Bobby Carpenter is a bust and trade for Alex Barron. They also released that Alex Barron is a bust and released him following the season

            2011 season

You crap the bed in the final game of the year against the Giants where the winner wins the NFC East. The Giants just take away your man-hood and go on to the playoffs. The silver lining is that you found a stud kicker in Dan Bailey. Tony Romo once again has no help. It's a common them in these years.

            2012

You lost a Week 16 game at home to the Saints in overtime, but you still have a chance to win the division all you have to do is beat the Redskins with their rookie Quarter-Back Robert Griffin III. You guys do the unthinkable and make the Redskins NFC East Champions. At least your man-hood was taken away this time. Remember when you trade out of the 2nd-Round which turn into Andy Levitre. He could had help you guys out as he had 3 good seasons with the Bills and Victor Butler can't play and is released. You made the Russ Brandon led Bills look good in a trade. Andy Levitre went on to play in the Super Bowl for the Falcons.

           2013

You got a much needed road win against the Redskins despite losing Tony Romo to injury and all you need to do is win at home against the Eagles. The Eagles once again beat you in a meaningful game. You lose a game despite Kyle Orton playing well. Looks like Jason Garrett isn't that great of a coach.

           2014

Your offense is on fire and they are averaging 29.1 ppg. Tony Romo has another great year with 3,705 yards, 34 touchdowns and just 9 interceptions. You even get a break in the Wild Card against the Lions and win 24-20. You win your 2nd playoff game in 18 years. You guys get screw the next week against the Packers and lose a Divisional Round. You guys are finally are the up and up. You should make a run next year.

           2015

Tony Romo plays just 5 games and you go 4-12 on the year. Looks like the years of not giving him an offensive line which resulted in him taking a beat finally takes it tool. You even trade a 5th-Round Pick to the Bills for Matt Cassel. Matt Cassel sucks and can't play. You made another incompetent General Manager in Doug Whaley look good.

             2016 draft

You drafted a stud running-back in Ezekiel Elliott and a got a draft steal in Dak Prescott. He can sit on the bench as Tony Romo prepares to come back. This team should bounce back.

              2016 season

Tony Romo gets hurt after you play him in the preseason. Dak Prescott starts in Week 1 and looks great. He becomes a franchise Quarter-Back. Ezekiel Elliott becomes the 3rd back you've need since Emmitt Smith left in 2003. Dak Prescott throws for 3,667 yards with 23 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions. Ezekiel Elliott rushes for 1,631 yards for 15 touchdowns and catches 32 passes for 363 yards with a touchdowns. You go 13-3 and win the NFC East. This is your year and then you lose again to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Aaron Rodgers did make an amazing throw to Jared Cook on the sidelines and he is a great Quarter-Back. Your future still looks bright despite the Divisional Round loss.

             2017 season

Ezekiel Elliott gets suspended for 6 games as he was accused of domestic violence and served that suspension in Week 10 through 15. He should know better than that and have common sense. Dak Prescott has a good year again has he throws for 3,324 yards with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. The Cowboys had a 3-game stretch when they lost by an average of 23.3 ppg, but despite that they still had a chance to salavage their season in Week 16 against the old Seahawks team. You go full Cowboys and lose the game getting eliminated from playoff contention. You lose to the Seahawks despite out-gaining them 282-136. Remember when you released Danny Amendola in 2008 he went on to be a productive player for the Patriots and win 2 Super Bowls. Devin McCourty also went on to be a 2-time pro bowler and a 2-time Super Bowl Champion with the Patriots. You could had used him instead of Dez Bryant.

             2018 Off-season and draft

You release Dez Bryant which is understandable since he is a distraction to a team. You will draft a wide-receiver in Calvin Ridley. Wait, you pass on him to draft Leighton Vander Esch. You do realize you have Shawn Lee right! At least Jason Witten will come back next year. "Jason Witten retires and joins the Monday Night Football team". You can draft his replacement in the draft in Mark Andrews in the 3rd Round. You draft a project wide-receiver in Michael Gallup. Then you traded for bust wide-receiver Tavon Austin and signed Allen Hurns. You guys trying to ruin Dak Prescott too like you did Tony Romo.

Overview: Jason Garrett is an average coach. Terrell Owens even said he didn't say "I don't understand why this guy still as a job." Terrell Owens knows football and Jason Garrett is an average coach. The Cowboys are terrible right now and need their drug of choice the past. Yes, we all know those great dynasty teams you had in the early 1990s with the way to like to live in the past you think we would in the middle of one right now. AT&T stadium is beautiful stadium too bad they don't have a Super Bowl caliber team playing it.  Vegas even has the Cowboys at 8.5 wins meaning they know that this team is average. I wouldn't be shocked it they finish between 8-8 or 9-7 like they already do. I think the Cowboys should put a off-season banner for 2018 since they like to live in the past so much I think it would be a good idea.  Panthers, Vikings, Eagles, Giants and Packers have owned the Cowboys in the last 22 years when it has matter.
