Buffalo Bills Game Reviews Week 2: Bills get back on track by Smashing the Raiders

The Bills bounce back by smashing the Raiders 38-10 today. I knew we were bounce back in this game. We just struggle against the Jets for some reason and the Cowboys crush them 30-10 today. The narrative by the National Media that we need an offensive minded coach instead of Sean McDermott needs to end. He's won 64 games in his career.

                 The Positives

                 The Running game shined

James Cook carried the ball 17 times for 123 yards and caught 4 passes for 36 yards. Damian Harris and Latavius Murray each had a rushing touchdown today. The Bills overall had 183 yards rushing averaging 5.2 yards per carry. Josh Allen didn't have to run the ball a lot for the Bills to have an effective rushing attack which is encouraging.

The other receivers step up besides Stefon Diggs

We know Stefon Diggs is going to be good every week. Will we get others to step up for the rest of the season. We did get that today. Gabe Davis had 6 catches for 92 yards and 1 touchdown. Dalton Kincaid had 5 catches for 43 yards while Dawson Knox had a touchdown in the red zone in the 2nd Quarter to give us a 14-7 lead which we would never look back.

Josh Allen took what the defense gave him

Josh Allen bounced back by being efficient in this game He was 31 for 37 for 274 yards with 3 touchdowns. He only had 7.4 yards per attempt and was still able to move the ball that is encouraging. The most important thing is that he had zero turnovers in this game. If he plays like this then the Bills will win the Super Bowl.

                Offensive line improves

The offensive line played a lot better than they did on Monday Night. The Bills rushed for 183 yards and they gave Josh Allen time has was sacked just twice. Maxx Crosby was held in check in this game. He is the best defensive player for the Raiders. Encouraging to see the Bills hold the teams best defensive player in check. The big test comes next week against the Commanders who had 6 sacks against the Broncos today.

               Run defense improves

We held the Raiders to 55 yards rushing and Josh Jacobs to a career low -2 yard rushing. The run defense has to be good to help Josh Allen too. It was today against one of the better rushing teams in the NFL in the Raiders. That is a encouraging sign too. The Bills run defense is capable of stopping the run and it showed in this game.

                Negatives

If there is one negative in this game and that's the special teams. Yes, we didn't allow a special teams touchdown, but DeAndre Carter had a big return early in the game that got called back due to a penalty. It already got us a game against the Jets. I like to see clean this up next week against the Commanders and going forward against the teams like the Dolphins, Jaguars, Bengals, Eagles, Chiefs and Cowboys.

                 Perspective

I didn't overreact to a loss in Week 1 and not going to overreact to a win in Week 2. With that said it's good to get a win to avoid going 0-2. We got the Dolphins in Week 4, but we can not overlook the Commanders in Week 3. They are 2-0 and their defense is really good. The Commanders have 10 sacks in 2 games from their defensive line. Sam Howell has looked good in his 1st 2 games in his 1st season as a starter. He has thrown for 501 yards with 3 touchdowns and just 1 interceptions. Brian Robinson Jr has 146 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns averaging 3.9 yards per carry. Commanders is going to be a tough game and the Bills have to show up to win.
