Buffalo Bills 2023 Week 9 Thoughts: The Bills are broken

 

                I'm decided not to do a game review of the Bengals game because that game doesn't deserve it. The Bills are a broken team and I don't see it getting better. I won't be shocked if the Broncos beat us this week. Here is how the broken the Bills are.

                    In Cap Hell  

                    We got just 3 Million in cap space next year. Players like Micah Hyde, Daquan Jones, Leonard Floyd, Dane Jackson, Gabe Davis, Shaq Lawson and Jordan Phillips won't be back next year. We will barely get A.J Epenesa back for next year. Brandon Beane handed out too many bad contracts in Dawson Knox, Ed Oliver and Tre'Davious White. Tre'Davious White is a bad contract because he's been injured 2 out of the last 3 years now. The Super Bowl window is close for this year, but next year has to be the year we make a push or we're gonna be in trouble. 

                  Sean McDermott time has expired 

                  I will always thank Sean McDermott for turning around the Bills and take this job when nobody wanted it. We were a losing culture before Sean McDermott as We missed the playoffs 17 years in a row. With all of that said it's time for him to go. He was the one that picked Ken Dorsey as the Offensive Coordinator when he could had gotten an experience guy like Adam Gase to replace Brain DaBoll. He keeps saying after every game we need to be more balanced. I want us to pass the ball because that's what we do well. The players are starting to have players only meetings and that is on the Head Coach. 

                   How to fix the Bills 

                   Trade Tre'Davious White and Ed Oliver 

 

                   I know that is not going to be a popular take, but trading Tre'Davious White and Ed Oliver would save 29 Million and would give 32 Million in cap space. I love Tre'Davious White and Ed Oliver, but those players can be replaced. We can get rid of those players in trades so we can sign Mike Evans and Kendrick Bourne. Mike Evans in terms of an outside Wide-Receiver in Stefon Diggs and Kendrick Bourne as a slot Wide-Receiver which we haven't had since Cole Beasley.   

                    Hire an Offensive Minded Head Coach 

 

                    The offensive coaching staff we have right now is not getting the best out of Josh Allen. When we had Brian DaBoll we saw the best version of Josh Allen for 2 years in 2020 and 2021. Now we're seeing a regressing Josh Allen as he's thrown a pick in every game this year. Ben Johnson and Todd Monken are gonna be hot names in terms of coaching candidates this year. I would be happy with either guy. Ben Johnson has gotten the most out of Jared Goff in Detroit. Todd Monken is getting the most out of Lamar Jackson. None of those Quarter-Backs are as talented as Josh Allen. 

                  Perspective 

                 This team can be fixed going into next year because this year looks to be a lost cause. All Brandon Beane has got to do is show that he cares about building a team that is good enough to win a Super Bowl in Buffalo. This is a huge test for Brandon Beane on what kind of GM he is. He drafted good players in his tenure in Tremaine Edmunds, Dane Jackson, Ed Oliver, Gregory Rousseau, Spencer Brown, James Cook, Terrell Bernard, Christian Benford, Dalton Kinkaid and O'Cyrus Torrence. Yes, he has also missed on some players, but no GM is perfect. If Brandon Beane is serious on bringing a Super Bowl caliber team to Buffalo then he needs to make chances no matter what happens this season.
