Buffalo Sabres Game Reviews November 4,2023: Sabres get big road win in Toronto

The Sabres got a much needed win after a bad loss against the Flyers last night. Hopefully, this is the win that gets this team to be more consistent. Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch and Jeff Skinner were our best players in this game.

                   Positives

                   Offense showed up

We got a great offensive performance in this game as we needed it against a high-power Maple Leafs offense. Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch and Jeff Skinner combined of 5 of our 6 goals in this game. They were our best players tonight. Alex Tuch had 2 goals in the game including the game-winner that made it 5-4.

                   Won the special teams battle

We had to win the special teams battle to win the game. We got a power play goal and a short-handed goal in this game. We went 1 for 3 on the Power Play which was needed because our power play has struggled all year so far. Sabres won the special teams battle 2-1 and that made the difference in the game.

Sabres answered every time the Maple Leafs scored a goal

Every time the Maple Leafs would score a goal we would answered. The Maple Leafs scored first then the Sabres would tie the game. It was good to see this team answer every time the Maple Leafs scored a goal because they could had gotten away several times tonight. We also blocked shots tonight with 18.

                  Perspective

This was a big road win for the Sabres on the road in Toronto. This was much needed after a dreadful effort against the Flyers last night at home. Ryan Johnson was good in his debut. He had 1 assist and was a plus 1. Alex Tuch got 2 goals including the game-winner tonight. Jeff Skinner and Tage Thompson each had 1 goal in this game. I hope this leads to more consistency from the Sabres as we have been 6-6-0 so far this season. See you guys next time on Saturday November 25 when the Sabres travel to New Jersey to take on the Devils.
