Buffalo Bills 2023 Game Reviews Week 14: Bills get big time win at the Chiefs

 We got a big time win at the Chiefs as we needed it to get our playoff hopes alive. This team is running the ball a lot better since Joe Brady was named Offensive Coordinator. We are averaging 140.3 yard per game rushing in the last 3 games. This team got a ugly win at the Chiefs when Josh Allen had a bad game.  

                 Positives 

                 We won this game with Josh Allen being Clark Kent 

                Josh Allen was far from Superman in this game even though he made a Superman like play in the 4th Quarter on a pass to Latavius Murray. He completed just 54.8 percent of his passes which is a season-low and the 3rd-worst Quarter-Back rating of the year at 68.8. We ran for 118 yards and averaged 4.2 yards per carry. James Cook himself averaging 5.2 yards per carry. If we can win games when Josh Allen doesn't have to carry us to wins then we can easily win the Super Bowl. 

                 Defense stepped up when it mattered 

                 The defense got a key takeaway that stopped the Chiefs late in the 4th Quarter and then got a key sack that forced a 4th and 15th at the end of the game. They hit Patrick Mahomes 8 times in this game which made the difference because Patrick Mahomes did not look comfortable in this game. This defense held Patrick Mahomes to his 4th-worst Quarter-Back rating for the year at 74.9. 

                Negatives 

                Offensive line played their worst game since Week 1 

                Josh Allen had no time to throw the ball in this game as he was sacked 3 times. He was also hit 10 times. The offensive line needs to be better as they face another good pass rush in the Cowboys next week. The last time the offensive line played this bad they bounce back in Week 2 and dropped 38 points on the Raiders. I think the offensive line will bounce back next week. 

                 Poor clock management at the end of the game 

                 I thought this game was going to end how typical Bills close games end and that is us losing. The reason I thought that was the poor clock management at the end of the game. Joe Brady called 3 straight passes instead of making the Chiefs used both of their timeouts when we settled for a field goal. Sean McDermott called a timeout before our defense got a 4th and 15 stop. I wish Sean McDermott would stop wasting timeouts at the end of game. Thank goodness Kadarius Toney lined up offsides which he obviously did. Sometimes you need breaks to win close games and it was about time we got one.  

                  Perspective  

                  I think if we get a win against the Cowboys at home next week we can win the Super Bowl this year because this team will get confidence at that point. I look around the rest of the AFC and I think it can be done. The Chiefs don't have a Super Bowl caliber offense which was on display today and it's because of their Wide-Receivers not Patrick Mahomes. We own the Dolphins as we are 12-2 against them since Sean McDermott has been the Head Coach. Trevor Lawrence didn't look the same as his high ankle sprain was clearly bothering him. The Browns are 2-4 on the road, The Texans are playing a rookie Quarter-Back, Colts and Bengals are starting backup Quarter-Backs for the rest of the season.
