Buffalo Bills 2023 Game Reviews Week 17: Bills now have a chance at winning the AFC East

           The Bills now have a chance to win the AFC East after beating the Patriots this week. The defense dominated has they got 4 turnovers and 3 sacks against the Patriots. The offense did just enough to get the win. I believe our offense will step up against Miami next week in a winner take all AFC East Division game. 

                 Positives   

 

                 Defense dominates 

                 Our defense dominated as they allowed only 14 points and got 4 turnovers with 3 sacks. Rasul Douglas had 2 interceptions including a pick 6 that made it 20-7 in the 2nd Quarter. Ed Oliver had the other interception in this game that turn the game around after the Bills allowed a special team touchdown. Ed Oliver also had a sack in this game. He had been a game wrecker this year and is having a breakout year. 

 

               Running game did enough 

        

               We ran the ball 37 times, but did enough with 127 yards and 2 touchdowns. Joe Brady has ran the ball more with our offense. This will help us in the playoffs as it has helped us down the stretch even when Josh Allen hasn't been at his best. Stefon Diggs lately hasn't been at his best. The running game has helped us win this close games when we were losing these close games earlier this season. 

                Negatives 

                Josh Allen not at his best 

                Josh Allen wasn't at his best in this game. He was over-throwing the Wide-Receivers including Stefon Diggs. Josh Allen also threw an interception in this game. He has thrown at least one interception in 15 of the 16 games this season. Josh Allen needs to stop throwing interceptions because that could be one of the things that cost us in the playoffs. 

               Special Team made another mistake 

               The Bills special team allowed a touchdown to start the game that gave the Patriots a 7-0 lead early. Our team overcame it, but I don't want to see special teams allowed a touchdown. Special Teams also cost us the game against the Broncos in Week 10 with 12 Men on the Field and a Punt Return touchdown in overtime against the Jets in Week 1. This team's special teams need to button up because we can't afford these mistakes on Sunday Night against Miami to get into the playoffs and in the playoffs. 

              Perspective 

              We got a shot at the division when it looked lost in Week 10 and going into the bye week in Week 13. The Dolphins did screw up against the Titans in Week 13 at home and got crush this week by the Ravens, but we did our part to by going on a 4-game winning streak. The Bills are 12-2 against the Dolphins in their last 14 meetings since 2016.
